DALIAN COBLATION CONFERENCE

Mr Burgess recently attended the Advanced course in Sleep Apnoea Surgery in Dalian China.

New techniques for treating snoring and sleep apnoea were presented including radiofrequency treatment to the tongue designed to create more upper airway space.

This offers an advanced way of alleviating sleep disordered breathing without the side effects of traditional treatment.

Radiofrequency upper airway surgery is aimed at opening up the upper airway, reducing snoring and treating sleep apnoea.

The technique is fast well tolerated and shows excellent results in the latest studies.
In many users of CPAP it allows them to discard their CPAP machines and return to normal sleep.

An alternative to conventional tonsillectomy was also presented that gives much reduced post operative discomfort and better outcomes with less risk of side effects.

Mr Burgess has introduced these techniques into his practice.
